FISHING CAMP

FISHING ACTIVITIES

All fishing activities are taught by experienced Texas professionals.

Bass & Inland fishing - Fishing the Texas lakes and rivers for bass and many other species is a very large part of the Texas outdoor experience. This section of the camp will feature the how, when and where to catch all of the freshwater fish in Texas - with a heavy focus on bass. The instructions will include - lures & baits, lure presentation, reading the water and available maps, seasons of the year, fishing equipment, electronics, casting techniques and much, much more. The Outdoor Texas Camp experience includes a large lake stocked and managed for bass, and equally productive catfish lake and a perch pond featuring huge, hybrid perch.

Coastal Fishing - This section of the camp will stress the Texas bay systems, seasons of the year, live and artificial baits, why fish do what they do, fishing from a boat, wade fishing, surf and pier fishing, needed equipment, Texas rules and regulations, and more.

Fly Fishing - This activity will include fly casting, fly presentation, reading the water, when to fish and where (fresh & saltwater), equipment and great places to fish with public access.

Fly Tying - An abundance of fly tying equipment and supplies in conjunction with professional instruction will allow each camper to learn and practice his or her skill at tying flies. Instruction and free time assures each camper will be able to tie that special fly for that bass or redfish.

Bait & Spin Casting - Each camper will learn the techniques, the do's and don'ts, and why to use one or the other of bait or spin casting. This section is like golf lessons - we will do away with the bad habits and put into place the right way to do it for maximum success and enjoyment.

Cane-Pole Fishing - Campers get back to the basics with this camp favorite.

Camping, Survival & First Aid - Outdoor Texas will provide each camper a strong foundation on what to do if you're lost, caught in extreme weather, or if you're injured or ill. Basic camping skills will be covered as well as what to do when problems arise. Each camper will be trained on how to use a first aid kit.

Kayaking & Boating - One of the hottest activities in the Texas outdoors is kayaking. The lakes of Stoney Creek provide the perfect place for hands-on instruction and fun. As with all Outdoor Texas activities, safety is first and foremost.

Equipment, Techniques & Safety are the lessons of the day!
